Oladimeji Jamiu Odetunde is an accomplished Industrial and Organisational Psychologist, academic, and researcher with several decades of experience in teaching, administration, and academic development in Nigeria. He is currently a Lecturer at the University of Lagos, a position he has held since April 2014. In this role, he contributes to teaching, research, and mentoring students while advancing scholarship in the field of industrial and organisational psychology.
Before joining the University of Lagos, Dr. Odetunde served at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, where he worked for nearly two decades from September 1995 to April 2014. During this period, he rose to the rank of Principal Lecturer and played a significant role in teaching, academic mentoring, and institutional development. His career in public service began earlier at the National Teachers Institute, Kaduna, where he served as an Assistant Executive Officer in Examination Administration between April 1986 and March 1990. This early administrative experience helped shape his strong understanding of educational systems and institutional processes.
Dr. Odetunde’s academic journey reflects a deep commitment to professional and intellectual development. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the University of Ibadan between 2007 and 2012, further strengthening his expertise in workplace psychology, organizational behavior, and human resource development. Prior to his doctoral studies, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the same institution between 1996 and 1999, following the completion of his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology from the University of Ibadan in 1994.
Demonstrating a strong interest in entrepreneurship and innovation within organizational contexts, Dr. Odetunde further expanded his academic portfolio by earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Essex Business School at the University of Essex, United Kingdom, between 2017 and 2018. This international academic experience provided him with broader insights into entrepreneurial ecosystems, innovation management, and business development in a global context.
Earlier in his academic journey, Dr. Odetunde obtained his Higher School Certificate (HSC) from Baptist Academy, Lagos, between 1982 and 1984, laying the foundation for his later achievements in higher education and professional development.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Odetunde has built a reputation as a dedicated educator and scholar committed to the development of human capital, the advancement of organisational performance, and the application of psychological principles to workplace and institutional challenges. Through his teaching, research, and mentorship, he continues to contribute significantly to the training and development of students and professionals in Nigeria.
